Studebaker US6 BZ-35S, 2½-ton, 6x4, Gasoline Tank
Aside from almost the complete 6x6 production of 105,000 US6, the Soviet Army also received the majority of the 110,000 US6x4 produced.
A large part of the former was of the type U4, a long (162in.) wheelbase with cargo body and winch.
In addition to the 426 US6 U-5 delivered, and due to the lack of domestic chassis, the Red Army fitted the U4 (as well as the U3) with self-produced 1,200gal. petrol tank bodies and called them BZ-35S, the "S" as the distinction to the domestic ZIS-6 tank truck.
The refuellers served successfully at the Red Airforce (»VVS«) as well as at the ground forces where they filled the gap between the railway and the ever advancing troops.

Note The vehicle shown is an early production sample, as is indicated by the Studebaker plate under the hood and the wiper arms fixed to the cab instead of the windshield frame.
Also note the somewhat weird, but common tire mix with directional tires (»DT«) on the front axle and non-directional tires (»NDT«) on the two rear axles.
