The Regio Esercito (Royal Italian Army) had recognized this from the start and converted captured Ford F15 CMPs by installing their equally excellent 20mm Breda da 20/65 Model 39 anti-aircraft gun.
Like their Italian allies, the Germans utilized captured CMP Ford F15s which they fitted in a fashion similar to that of the Italians, mounting a 2cm Flak 30 cannon in the cargo hody and removing the top of the cab as well as the spare wheel.
The conversion shown here served the Deutsches Afrikakoips starting in 1942, the eight ammunition boxes for the 20-round magazines were carried externally, as they were on the standard German 1-ton self-propelled half-track mounting.
