In the late 1930's, the Moscow »
Zavod
Imieni
Stalin« (»ZIS«) combined a simplistic track suspension with an ordinary
ZiS-5 truck.
The suspension itself was liftable thus allowing to use the car as a normal truck as well.
In contrast to the similar
GAZ-65, tests proved rather satisfying, so roughly 4,000 of the new »ZiS-33« were produced in the late 30's.
