Being the first Russian 6x4 truck and based upon the the famous 4x2 »Polutorka« GAZ-AA, the first GAZ-AAAs left the production halls of the »
Gorkiy
Auto
Zavod« at the end of 1934.
It proved as robust and reliable as its smaller counterpart and stayed in production until 1943 with a total of 37,000 built.
Its chassis served as the base for many tasks, among them as AA truck carrying the 37mm 61-K gun, as self-propelled 76mm field gun (»SU-12«), as ambulance and mobile workshop.
The GAZ-AAA even appeared in an armoured version as the »BA-6« and »BA-10«.
The drawings are showing the common pre-war practice of painting the chassis, wheel rims, hood front and fenders black.
Note : All truck drawings are based on the excellent line-drawings of Mr. N. Polikarpov in the Russian magazine M-Hobby.
