U.S.Medium Tank M4A2 »General Sherman«
Part of the ever increasing Lend-Lease deliveries to Russia, the first M4A2 Medium tanks entered the Eastern Front in late 1942.
Those coming through the »Persian Corridor« were instantly deployed to the Southern Fronts participating on the fights for the Taman peninsula in Northern Caucasus.
Not as suitable for the Russian soil as the domestic and ubiquitous T34, the M4A2 was not always welcomed by the tank crews right from the start. Nonetheless, the vehicle proved quite effective in the remaining campaigns, and appeared on all fronts in increasing numbers.
The 2000 M4A2 75mm delivered in total came in two flavours, differing mainly in the front plate angle (47 to 56 degrees) and the turret version (with or withour loader's hatch, different gun mounts and turret buzzles) .
